Description
Francis Court is a detached villa built in the late 1840s or early 1850s, part of a development of nine villas on the north-west side of Teignmouth Road in Torquay. The building has a plastered exterior and a slate hipped roof, with stacks that have rendered shafts. It features a rectangular double-depth plan, with the garden front facing the road and the entrance located on the right side.
The villa is two storeys high and has deep eaves supported by paired brackets, an eaves band, a platband, and rusticated quoins. The front is symmetrical with three windows. The ground-floor windows are 6 over 9-pane sashes with moulded architraves, while the first-floor windows have moulded architraves and sill blocks, glazed with 12-pane sashes. There is a flat-roofed porch with a parapet on the right side. The interior has not been inspected but may still have interesting features.
