Description

This detached villa dates from the early 1840s or late 1850s and is part of a development of nine similar houses along Teignmouth Road. It was originally listed as numbers 50-66 (even) before being separated. The exterior is roughcast with a slate hipped roof and rendered stacks. The plan is rectangular, with a front garden facing the road and the main entrance on the right side.

The two-storey facade has deep eaves supported by paired brackets, an eaves band, a platband, and rusticated quoins. It is symmetrical with three windows. The ground-floor windows are 6 over 9-pane sashes with moulded architraves. The first-floor windows also have moulded architraves with sill blocks and are glazed with two-pane sashes. The central window has been blocked, while the outer windows retain their glazing. A veranda, supported by trellis standards, runs across the front and returns to the right, where it has been enclosed with glazing to create a porch. The interior has not been inspected, but may contain features of architectural interest.
