Description
Stratford Lodge is a detached villa built in the late 1840s or early 1850s, part of a development of nine villas on the north west side of Teignmouth Road. The building features a roughcast exterior and an asbestos slate roof, with stacks that have rendered shafts. It has a rectangular double-depth plan, with the garden front on the right and the entrance on the right return.
The villa is two storeys high and has deep eaves supported by paired brackets, an eaves band, a platband, and rusticated quoins. It includes louvred sun shutters and has a symmetrical three-window front. The ground-floor windows are 6 over 9-pane sashes with moulded architraves, while the first-floor windows have moulded architraves with sill blocks and are glazed with 12-pane sashes. A verandah runs across the front on trellis standards, and there is a glazed addition at the front right corner. The interior has not been inspected.
