Description

This detached villa was built in the late 1840s or early 1850s as part of a development of nine villas along Teignmouth Road. It is one of a group of buildings of group value. The exterior is plastered with a slate hipped roof, rendered stacks, and the first floor clad in wooden shingles. The building follows a rectangular double-depth plan, with the garden front facing the road and the entrance on the right return.

The two-storey façade features deep eaves supported by paired brackets, an eaves band, a platband, and rusticated quoins. The symmetrical front has three windows on each floor. The ground-floor windows are 6 over 9 pane sashes with moulded architraves. The first-floor windows have moulded architraves with sill blocks and are glazed with 12-pane sashes. A veranda extends across the front, resting on trellis supports, and returns to the right, where it has been enclosed with glazing to form a porch. The interior has not been inspected but may contain features of interest.
