Description
No. 8 Teignmouth Road is a house dating from the 1850s. It has a plastered exterior and a hipped slate roof with rendered stacks that have platbands. The building has a double-depth main range that is two rooms wide and is positioned at an angle to the road, with a heated single-storey rear wing.
The house is two storeys tall and features an asymmetrical three-bay entrance front with deep eaves and an eaves band. The ground floor has rusticated quoins, while the first floor is adorned with pilasters. There is an ornate, shallow, gabled timber porch from the 1920s that has curly bargeboards and glazed panels on either side of a cranked lintel, which is pierced with depressed trefoils. The low panels on the front of the porch are decorated with tulip motifs. The front door is panelled and has a plain overlight. The left-hand bay of the front is blind and has a shallow, projecting lateral stack. The right side features a 12-pane 19th-century sash window on both the ground and first floors, with a blind window above the porch. The left return, which is most visible from the road, has a two-window front with 12-pane sashes.
The interior has not been inspected but may contain features of interest.
