Description
Excalibur House is a villa, currently operating as a hotel, built around the 1850s. The building is plastered and features a hipped slate roof with a rendered chimney stack that has a cornice. The main block has a double-depth rectangular plan with two rear service wings.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical two-window front. It includes an eaves band, a platband, and pilasters on both the left and right sides. There are two tall six-over-nine pane sash windows with plain plat architraves on the ground floor, and two twelve-pane sash windows with Venetian shutters on the first floor, along with a 20th-century window inserted between them. A four-bay timber trellis verandah spans the front, featuring a timber fascia designed in a Chinese Chippendale style. The entrance is located on the left return, leading into a modern glazed porch that also serves as a conservatory.
The interior has not been inspected, but it may still contain some interesting features.
