Description
The stable block to Mentone, dating from the 1840s, is located in Torquay. It is a small rectangular building situated at the rear of Mentone, constructed of roughcast with a gabled slate roof. The lofted stable block features a gable end facing Tor Vale, which includes a round-headed loft doorway with a plank door and a fanlight above, as well as a small casement window below. There is also a doorway on the right return. Although the interior was not inspected, this stable block is noted as a rare survival from an early stable block associated with a Torquay villa and is included for its group value with Mentone.
