Description

Villa Belvedere is a villa dating to the 1830s, with alterations and an addition made in the 1940s. The exterior is roughcast with cement rendered dressings, topped with a hipped slate roof featuring lead rolls and a stack with a rendered shaft marked with bands. The building follows a double-depth plan.

The west front has two storeys and three bays, featuring three 2-pane windows on both the ground and first floors. The south return side includes a central, round-headed doorway reminiscent of those at Southernhay, Exeter, with vermiculated voussoirs and a keystone carved or cast as a head. The doorway is flanked by panelled reveals, and contains a 6-panel door with glazed top panels, along with a fanlight decorated with Y tracery. A platband runs along the second-floor sill level, and a projecting cornice is positioned below the parapet, which includes acroteria at the corners and raised sections in the centre of the west and south sides.

The interior was not inspected but may be of interest.
