Description
No. 2 Montpellier Terrace is a small house, built in 1823, that is currently used as an office. The building has a plastered exterior and a tarred slate roof that is gabled at the right end, with stacks featuring rendered shafts. The plan is symmetrical and double-depth, with a central entrance.
The house stands two storeys tall and has a symmetrical three-window range across three bays. It features left and right panelled pilasters, a moulded eaves cornice with a low parapet, and a first-floor platband. The ground floor openings are round-headed, flanked by pilasters and adorned with moulded architraves. The doorway includes a vermiculated keystone, panelled reveals, a recessed six-panel door, and a fanlight with delicate timber spider's web glazing. The left and right windows are fitted with two-pane sashes, while the three first-floor windows have moulded architraves and are glazed with twelve-pane sashes.
Outside, the pitched stone paving incorporates lozenge patterns, which has been repaired and is important to the setting of the house. The interior has not been inspected but may still retain features of interest.
