Description

No. 12 George Street is a house that has been converted into an office. It dates from the late 18th century and has undergone some alterations since then. The building is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features a slate roof. It stands three storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window arrangement. There are sill bands at the ground and first floors, topped by a modillioned cornice. The windows have shaped wedge lintels with keystones, while the second-floor windows have rubbed brick flat arches. The ground floor windows are tripartite and there is a wide entrance with a gabled porch supported by Doric columns, likely added in the 20th century. To the right of the main entrance is a round-headed doorway with an archivolt and keystone, leading to a door with a blind tympanum. The building has gable-end stacks. The interior has not been inspected.
