Description
7 and 8 George Street are two houses that have been converted into offices. They were built in the late 18th century and have undergone some later alterations. The buildings are constructed of brick with stone dressings and feature a slate roof. They have a double-depth plan and rise three storeys high, presenting a symmetrical five-window facade. There is a sill band at the first floor and a cornice at the top, with the central windows being blind. The ground and first floors have windows with rubbed brick flat arches above four-pane sash windows, while the second floor features six-pane sashes for the first two windows and four-pane sashes for the others. The entrances at either end are round-headed and have Doric aedicules, open pediments, fanlights with radial glazing bars, and six-panel doors. The rear of the building includes a 20th-century extension. The interior has not been inspected.
