Description
No. 6 George Street is a house that has been converted into an office. It dates from the late 18th century and has undergone some alterations since then. The building is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features a slate roof. It stands three storeys tall and has a three-window range. There is a sill band on the first floor and a cornice at the top. The ground floor has later windows with rubbed brick flat arches above tripartite horned sashes. The first and second floors have 4-pane horned sash windows, with the first-floor windows also having rubbed brick flat arches. The central entrance is wide and round-headed, featuring a Doric aedicule, an open pediment, a fanlight, and paired three-panel doors. There is a cross-axial stack, and the rear of the building has 20th-century extensions. Inside, there is a staircase with stick balusters.
