Description
No. 10 Strand Street is a house that has been converted into an office. It was rebuilt in the early 19th century, replacing an earlier property. The building is constructed of brick and features a slate hipped roof. It has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys tall with a cellar. The façade has a two-window range, with an additional two-window return on the left side.
The eaves overhang, and the ground floor has semicircular-arched openings that are connected by a moulded impost band. The right-hand doorway features thin attached columns supporting a transom and a fine metal fanlight, with steps leading up to a recessed 20th-century six-panel door. The ground floor also has semicircular-arched 6/6-pane sash windows set within similar recesses. Above, the first floor has 6/6-pane sashes and the second floor has 3-pane sashes, all with gauged-brick flat arches. The left-hand return has similar window features. There are traces of a 17th-century gable on the south wall. The interior was altered for office use in the mid-20th century.
