Description
This building is a warehouse, now functioning as The Quay Gallery, located to the east of Boatshift in Poole. It was built in the early 19th century, with alterations made to the ground floor in the early 20th century. The structure is made of rendered brick with grey brick dressings on the sides and stone dressings, topped with an asbestos sheet roof. It has a rectangular right-angle plan and stands five storeys tall, featuring a three-window range.
The facade includes rusticated quoins leading to a frieze and cornice, with three panelled dies above. The early 20th-century ground floor displays pilasters supporting a cornice and entablature, along with plate-glass windows. The flat-headed casements are set within segmental-arched recesses, with the central bay being lower than the others. The side ranges consist of seven bays. The interior has been altered on the ground floor, but the facade remains an interesting example of early 19th-century warehouse architecture, designed in a simple classical style with panelled dies that resemble acroteria.
