Description
22 High Street is a house dating from around 1800 that was altered in the late 20th century when the front was rebuilt, and it is now used as a commercial premises.
The building is constructed of Flemish bond brick, featuring a brick chimney stack on the left-hand party wall and a tiled roof. It has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high with an attic.
The front elevation consists of four windows, topped with a serrated eaves cornice. The ground floor has a mid-20th century shop front with plate glass windows and a central doorway, flanked by two additional doors. A former doorway in the left-end bay has been replaced with a six-over-six-pane sash window, which, along with the four six-over-six-pane sashes on the first floor, has a rubbed brick flat arch. The attic features two hipped dormers with three-over-six-pane sashes. At the rear, there are eight-over-eight pane sashes on the ground floor and two large hipped dormers above.
The interior is understood to have been altered.
