Description
32 High Street is a house dating from the late 16th to early 17th century, which was refronted in the 18th century and has undergone alterations. The building is roughcast with brick gable stacks and a tiled roof, featuring two storeys and a two-window range. The front has a parapet with a moulded cornice. On the left side, there is a notable mid-18th century timber doorcase with attached columns on stone plinths, entablature blocks, and an open pediment above a six-panel door that has glazed top panels and a painted radial fanlight. To the right, there is a mid-20th century shop front with a fascia and plate-glass windows, along with two first-floor plate-glass sash windows. The rear wall is reported to contain 17th century chamfered stone jambs and part of a chamfered stone mullion window with a moulded label and square stop on the southwest wall. The interior has been opened up on the ground floor to form a shop. Historically, the roof extends over to No. 30, suggesting that it was originally part of the same structure.
