Description
Riseley Shop is a house and shop dating from the early 19th century, with possible earlier origins, and was altered and extended around the mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and has a clay plain tile roof with gabled ends and brick gable-end stacks. The building has a plan that includes two principal front rooms and a central entrance, with the left room converted into a shop around the mid-19th century. At the rear, there is a range that may include earlier elements.
The exterior is two storeys high and features a nearly symmetrical three-window southwest front, with the windows primarily located towards the right. The windows are 12-pane sashes with flat gauged brick arches and stone cills. The ground floor right window is larger and has been replaced with a 20th-century multi-pane window. The ground floor left section is a mid-19th century double-fronted shop, which includes console brackets supporting the cornice, flush-panelled shutters, and a panelled central door with an overlight. The central doorway has a semicircular gauged brick arch, a fanlight, a flush-panel door, and a later wooden trellis porch. At the rear, there are three gables, with the right gable showing an exposed truss and the left gable having been rebuilt. The centre features a canted bay window and a wooden trellis porch. The interior has not been inspected.
