Description
Evergreen Cottage and Pelistry Cottage are two houses located on the north side of The Parade in Hugh Town, dating from the 18th century or early 19th century, with later alterations. They are constructed of granite rubble with rendered fronts and feature gabled plain tile roofs from the mid-20th century, along with granite end stacks that have drip courses. Each house has a two-room plan with a central staircase and stands two storeys tall, displaying a symmetrical three-window range. Evergreen Cottage has a central door and 8/8-pane sash windows with horns, both dating from the 20th century. Pelistry Cottage features a late 19th-century half-glazed central door and late 19th-century horned 3/3-pane sashes. There are also 19th-century service outshuts and mid-20th-century extensions at the rear. Inside, the cottages contain mid to late 19th-century panelled doors and typical joists.
