Description
28 and 29 East Street is a mid-19th century house located at the end of a row, returning to Governors Lane. The building is rendered and features a slate roof. It has three storeys with three windows on each frontage, all of which are 4-pane sashes. The second-floor windows are set to the eaves in plain reveals and are flanked by canted oriels with cornices. The left oriel has a deep flared skirt, and all oriels have separate small cast-iron balconies.
In the center of the main front is a six-panel door with a transom light. To the right, there is a late 19th-century shop front with pilasters and a deep fascia, which wraps around the quadrant corner and includes a corner glazed door. On the quadrant corner, there are arched sashes at the first and second-floor levels, each with decorative cast-iron balconies similar to those on the main front. The return front features three sashes at the eaves and a panelled door with a transom light at the ground floor. There is a gable stack to the left of the East Street front and two stacks at the eaves on the return front. The interior has not been inspected.
