Description
No. 20 East Street is a house located in Weymouth, dating from the mid-18th century. The ground floor is rendered, while the upper part features painted Flemish bond brickwork. The building has a double gabled roof with a central valley. It stands three storeys tall with an attic and has three windows. The attic includes a hipped dormer with six-pane sashes, while the main floors display four-pane sashes, all set in moulded flush boxes. The windows are adorned with splayed brick voussoirs that have a raised central stone key and thin wooden sills. The ground floor features three windows and a four-panel door with a fanlight above. There is a plinth and a chimney stack on the right side.
At the rear, the building has a wide section with a swept-down roof, which includes a hipped sash dormer and a broad eaves stack, above smaller sashes and a gabled one-storey projecting service wing. To the left, there is a narrower section that has plain sashes at two levels and a lean-to addition. The interior includes a plan with a through-passage and a rear kitchen, featuring a staircase to the right that has a chinoiserie balustrade.
