GV II

House. Early C19 with earlier origins. Red Flemish-bond brick front with Gault brick dressings and gabled roof of clay plain tiles. 2 storeys with attics and basement. EXTERIOR: front has plain parapet and flat roofed C20 dormer of 6 lights. Raised brick cornice band, raised brick bands between storeys and high tarred plinth with moulded coping. First floor has one blind window with stone sill, slightly arched rubbed brick head and projecting brick keystone. Also 2 recessed double-hung sash windows with small panes and similar detail. Ground floor has 2 similar windows and entrance door with semicircular brick arch on painted stone impost blocks with inset diamond motif. Door has 6 raised-and-fielded panels and is recessed above flight of 3 stone steps. Narrow moulded architraves and plain glass fanlight. Large stack off-centre behind ridge. INTERIOR: has encased spine beams and simple plaster cornices. One early C19 door with moulded architrave and narrow well staircase with Chinese Chippendale balustrade up to attic level. Roof of joggled side purlins. Probably extensively altered C17 building.
