Description
No. 10 King's Quay Street is a house dating from the late 18th century. It features red Flemish-bond brickwork and a gabled clay plain tile roof. The building has two storeys, attics, and cellars. The front of the house includes two hipped dormers with double-hung sash windows set behind a parapet. There is a four-window range of flush, double-hung sash windows with small panes, slightly arched rubbed brick heads, stone keystones, and recessed aprons. A moulded brick cornice runs along the top of the parapet, and there is a raised brick band between the steps. The entrance door, located on the southern edge of the facade, is adorned with a pediment, consoles, and raised-and-fielded panels on either side. A flight of stone steps leads up to the door, which has two glazed panels above four raised-and-fielded panels. There is also a passage entrance at the northern edge of the facade, featuring a margin glazed fanlight. Inside, the entrance passage has a rear arch with a keystone supported by fluted Doric pilasters, and the staircase boasts a Chinese Chippendale balustrade.
