Description
No. 80 Watling Street East is a house dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with flared headers and features a slate roof with a brick end stack on the right. The building has an L-plan and is three storeys high with a two-window range. The ground floor is rendered and includes a four-panel door on the left, which has an overlight and a pilastered wood surround with brackets that support a moulded cornice or hood. To the right, there are plate glass sash windows with timber lintels.
On the first floor, there is a 12-pane sash window on the left with a gauged brick lintel, alongside a canted bay window on the right, also with a gauged brick lintel. The attic floor features 9-pane sashes with flat-arched heads. The building has a plinth, a nogged brick band at the second floor, and corbelled brick eaves. At the rear left, there is a wing that includes an old three-light leaded casement window on the first floor gable end. Inside, there is an ogee-stop-chamfered spine beam and a stone cellar.
