Description
No. 171 on Watling Street West is a shop and dwelling built in the late 18th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, which has been painted, and features a slate roof with a brick stack at one end. It has a three-unit plan and stands two stories tall with a range of three windows. To the left, there is a double-leaf door with four panels and a segmental-arched brick head. The shop front and door were added in the 20th century. On the first floor, there are three 12-pane sash windows, each with flat-arched brick heads. The building is finished with moulded wood eaves.
