Description
No. 78 on West Street is a house with a shop that dates from the early 19th century. It is built of rendered brick and features a hipped clay pantile roof behind parapets. The building has three storeys. On the second floor, there are three square, 20th-century double-hung sash windows with small panes and projecting sills supported by consoles. Above the first floor, there is a raised band that separates it from three similar first-floor windows. The ground floor includes an entrance with a rendered moulded semicircular arch, flanked by reeded pilasters with moulded capitals. There is a semicircular plain fanlight above a 20th-century door. The shop front from the 19th century consists of two large panes and a fascia, with a black painted plinth and a tall rendered chimney stack. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
