Description

Wellington House is a house dating from the 19th century, with earlier origins. It is constructed of brick, with rendered and ashlar detailing, and has a 20th-century clay tile roof. The rear of the building shows red brick, and there are plaster quoins at the east corner. The house is three storeys high with cellars, and it has a two-storey section with a parapet to the northeast.

The second and first floors have double-hung sash windows with small panes, slightly recessed on either side of similar, narrower windows. The ground floor features two similar windows and a central recessed door with a semicircular arched head, a fanlight with a radiating pattern, and impost blocks. The door itself has six raised and fielded panels within reeded and blocked frames. A cast-iron cellar vent and four cast-iron tie rod plates are also present. The lower part of the building has a similar double-hung sash window on the first floor and a 19th-century shop front on the ground floor. A large, rebuilt stack is on the northeast flank, and below it, an iron hoist bracket with pulleys can be found. The building was formerly a two-storey structure, possibly raised in 1852.
