Description
No. 77 on West Street is a house and shop dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of dark red Flemish-bond brickwork and features a hipped 20th-century concrete pantiled roof behind a plain parapet. The building is three storeys tall and has an 'L' plan form.
On the exterior, the second floor has three double-hung sash windows with rubbed brick arches and margin glazing. The first floor includes a double-hung sash window with margin glazing on either side of a tripartite double-hung sash window, which has a segmental rubbed brick arch over the central part and margin glazing. The ground floor features an entrance with a semicircular brick arched head on impost blocks, enclosing a fanlight. The door has six panels, with the upper four having moulded frames and the lower two being flush. There is a 19th-century shop front with a fascia, blind box, and two large panes, along with a recessed entrance at the top of a flight of steps. A large rectangular brick stack is present as well. The interior has not been inspected.
