Description

No. 131 on Long Street is a shop that has been converted into offices, forming part of a row of buildings. The structure dates from the late 18th century, with late 18th to early 19th century additions at the rear, and a front range from the late 19th century. It is built of Flemish bond brick and features an old plain-tile roof with a brick stack at the left end. The building is U-shaped with wings extending to the rear and stands two storeys tall with a three-window range.

On the far right, there is a plank door with a blind overlight. The late 19th-century shop front has a central doorway with an overlight, although the original door has been removed and replaced with 20th-century doors set within a recess. The windows on either side consist of two large panes and display slight Gothic detailing. The fascia is supported by colonnettes with foliage corbels and gabled tops. The first floor features four-pane sash windows, and all openings are topped with simple moulded stone lintels.

The left rear range, dating from the late 18th century, is two storeys with an attic and has a one-window range. It includes a large canted bay with three four-pane sashes and a first floor with a Venetian window that has a moulded surround. The gable is corbelled and features a Diocletian window. The irregular right rear range is also two storeys and has two windows. The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value with other nearby structures.
