Description
The Midland Bank, located at 110 Long Street in Atherstone, is a bank building constructed in 1837 by J.A. Hansom. It is part of a row of buildings and features a rendered exterior with a moulded cornice. The roof, added in the 20th century, is covered with plain tiles and has boxed eaves, along with rendered ridge and end stacks. The building is designed in a simple classical style and has three storeys with a three-window range. The late 20th-century ground floor includes a recessed entrance. There is a string course running along the building, and the second-floor sash windows, which have nine panes, are adorned with moulded surrounds, while the first-floor windows feature a cornice. The corner of the building is canted, and there is a three-bay range facing Ratcliffe Street, with the first bay being blind. The late 20th-century ground-floor windows have a simple rendered surround.
