Description

A house and attached cottage dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. The building is constructed of painted brick with 20th-century tile roofs and brick ridge and end stacks. The main house has a three-unit plan and a façade of two storeys and a four-window range. A five-panel door is positioned to the right of centre, with an ornamental overlight flanked by pairs of Tuscan pilasters supporting an entablature with a triglyph frieze. Tripartite, horned sash windows with moulded stone surrounds and keyblocks are present on the ground floor to the left and right. A four-panel double-leaf door, with an overlight and rendered surround with a blocked lintel, is located at the far left. First-floor windows are also sash, with horned glass, moulded stone surrounds, and a plinth, storey band, and moulded cornice. To the left of the main house is a service cottage of painted brick, also under the same roof. This cottage is two storeys high and has a two-window range, with a five-panel door approached by three stone steps, an overlight, and a rendered surround with a keyblock. The ground and first floors have sash windows with segmental brick heads. The cottage also has a plinth and dentilled brick eaves. The interior of the main house features a chequered stone-paved staircase hall, an open-well staircase with stick balusters, carved tread ends, and a ramped handrail. There are six-panel doors in reeded surrounds, two early 19th-century reeded marble fireplaces, and a brick-lined cellar.
