Description
This is a group of shops and dwellings located on Watling Street West in Towcester. The building’s core dates to the 17th century, but it was significantly altered with a new brick facade in the early to mid-19th century. The front is red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, and it is painted. The rear of the building retains a timber-frame construction. The roof is slate and old plain tile, with brick end stacks. The original layout of the building is unclear. It is a two-story structure with a three-window facade. Modern shop fronts are visible on the ground floor. A canted bay window extends from the first floor on the left side, and the remaining windows are 12-pane sashes with flat arches. The eaves are constructed with nogged brick. The interior of the property has not been inspected.
