Description
This building, located at 98/98A Watling Street East in Towcester, is a pair of shops dating from the 17th century, which were refronted in the early 19th century. The structure is made of rendered brick with a slate roof and features brick end stacks. It has a two-unit plan and stands two stories high with a two-window range. The ground floor showcases 19th-century shop fronts, with a door to the shop on the left flanked by Doric pillars. The first floor is adorned with Ionic pilasters at the center and ends. There are two bay windows with rounded corners, featuring 16-pane sash windows at the front and 8-pane curved sashes on the sides, topped with a moulded cornice. The building also has an entablature and a parapet with concrete slab coping. The interior has not been inspected.
