Description

This is a pair of shops dating from the late 18th century, prominently situated on High Street in Shrewsbury. The building is constructed of brick and has a concealed roof behind a parapet. It rises to four storeys and has a four-window front, slightly angled at the corner of the street. Modern shop fronts have been inserted, and these flank the original doorway, which is over-arched by a pediment supported on Ionic columns acting as an architrave to a six-panelled door. The upper windows are 12-pane sash windows with flat-arched, gauged brick heads. A continuous sill band runs beneath the first-floor windows, and a similar band beneath the six-pane attic windows forms a cornice. A plain parapet marks the eaves. A gable end stack is visible.
