Description
The Wheatsheaf Public House is a public house located on High Street in Shrewsbury, with a façade dating from around 1900 that covers an earlier core. It features mock timber-framing in the Shrewsbury style and has a plain tiled roof. The building is two storeys high with attic dormers and a three-window range. The main entrance is positioned at the corner of High Street and Milk Street, leading to a continuous public house frontage. This frontage includes paired segmentally-arched leaded windows on either side of the doorway, along with an additional door to the right. A continuous fascia is supported by console brackets above. The upper windows consist of tall two-light casements. The ornate mock framing includes a quatrefoil frieze, ogival tension bracing, and close studding, with arcaded decoration beneath the eaves. The roof features three gabled dormers, and there are axial and gable wall stacks.
