Description

4 and 5 High Street are a pair of shops built in the late 18th century. The buildings are constructed of brick and feature a roof that is not visible behind the parapet. They rise to four storeys and have a four-window range. There are modern shop fronts inserted on either side of a central doorway that provides access to the upper floors. The upper windows are 12-pane sashes, with the first floor of No. 5 having 2-pane windows, and there are two blind painted windows in the right-hand bay. A cornice band is located below the attic storey, and the buildings have plain parapet eaves with a gable end stack.
