Description
No. 76 Watling Street East is a house that dates from the early 19th century but has earlier origins. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone and ironstone, with the front rendered, and features a slate roof and brick end stacks. The building has a two-unit central-staircase plan and is two stories high with a three-window range. The central entrance consists of a four-panel door set in a rendered surround with a keyblock above. The ground and first floors have 12-pane sash windows. The front displays a plinth and incised masonry patterns. At the rear left, there is a wing made of coursed rubble, which is likely older than the main structure. Inside, there is an open-well staircase with stick balusters. The house is included in the register for its group value.
