Description
This is a house located at 68/70 Watling Street East in Towcester, dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone with a slate roof and features brick stacks at the ends and along the ridge. The building has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys tall with an attic, presenting a two-window range.
The front of the house has a central canted bay window with a 16-pane sash, flanked by 4-pane sashes on the sides. There is a 20th-century door in a moulded wood surround. To the left on the ground floor, there is a similar bay window, and to the right, a 20th-century plank door also in a moulded wood surround. A continuous moulded cornice runs along the top of the building. The first floor features 16-pane sash windows with wooden lintels. There are two 20th-century roof dormer windows. The interior has not been inspected.
