Description
House, formerly an inn, dating from the late 17th century. The gable end facing the street is constructed of coursed squared ironstone, while the sides are made of coursed limestone rubble. The original thatched roof has been replaced with a plain-tile roof from the 20th century, and there are brick stacks at the ends. The building has two storeys and an attic, arranged in a one-window range with a two-unit plan. The entrance is located on the gable end facing the street, featuring a 20th-century door to the left with a wooden lintel. There are 20th-century three-light sliding sash windows on the ground and first floors, along with a similar two-light window in the gable above, all having wooden lintels. The quoins and gables are built up in brick. On the south front, there is a blocked doorway to the right that contains a small 20th-century two-light sliding sash window, and a larger similar window to the left with another similar window above, all with wooden lintels. To the west, there is a low two-storey addition. The interior includes chamfered spine beams, a wooden winder staircase, plank doors, and some original roof structure. This building was formerly known as the Angel Inn.
