Description

No. 59 High Street is a house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a black-glazed pantile roof with tile coped gable ends, dentil eaves, and moulded cast-iron gutters. The building has brick axial stacks and a double depth plan, consisting of two main front rooms, a central entrance, and a two-storey integral outshut at the back, with the right-hand part of the outshut possibly being an addition.

The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window front. The windows are 19th-century 16-pane sashes, with a 12-pane sash in the centre on the first floor, all set in exposed boxes. The ground floor openings have rubbed flat brick arches, and the lower sashes are missing some glazing bars. The central doorway features an original wooden pilastered doorcase with an enriched entablature, a small canopy, panelled reveals, and a panelled door with glazed top panels. The interior has not been inspected.
