Description
The structure consists of three kilns and two chimney stacks located at the former Gisleham Brick and Pipeworks, built around 1934. The kilns feature English bond brick walls and header bond brick domes that are constructed without mortar. The drum walls and necks are secured with steel bands and spring-headed bolts for tightening. Each kiln is circular in shape and has round arch doorways on the west sides, along with two tiers of round arch draught vents. The two chimney stacks are also made of English bond brick and are square in plan, consisting of two stages. The Gisleham Brick and Pipeworks, owned by Mr. Easey, began operations in 1934 and was capable of producing approximately 50,000 drainage pipes per week.
