Description
No. 9 Maiden Street is a house from the early 19th century. It features painted Flemish bond brickwork with a semi-basement made of rusticated stone, a mansard slate roof, and rendered stacks. The building has two storeys, a basement, and an attic, with a two-windowed facade. Four steps lead up to a six-panelled door that has a semicircular fanlight. This door is set in a deeply recessed surround with a moulded architrave and a hood supported by small brackets adorned with delicate leaf ornament. Above the twelve-pane sash windows, there are stone lintels with guilloche ornament. The first-floor windows are set on a band that is interrupted at the centre, where a former oriel was removed in the mid-20th century and has been blocked with brickwork and a three-light casement. The attic features two-light casements set in flat-roofed dormers with slate cheeks. The interior has not been inspected.
