Description
No. 43 Augusta Place is a house in a row, part of a hotel, dating from the early 19th century. It features a rendered and scribed exterior with a slate roof. The building has four storeys and three windows. The second and third floors have 12-pane sash windows, while the first floor has a 20th-century steel casement window, all set within moulded eared architraves. The centre window on the first floor is topped with a floating cornice. The ground floor includes a full-width shop front. Architectural details include a moulded string course at the first floor, a plain string at the second floor, and a moulded cornice with a blocking course and parapet that is inflected at the centre and ends. The three upper floors have thin end pilasters, which have been cut back at the top level where the adjoining properties slightly overlap. A deep stack is located on the left party wall. The addition of steel casements at the first floor has affected the visual quality of the front. The interior has not been inspected.
