Description
Nos. 9 and 10 Belle Vue are a pair of early 19th-century houses located in Weymouth. They are built with English bond brickwork, with No. 9 being painted, and feature tile mansard roofs. The left gable has asbestos-cement slate hanging. The houses are two storeys high with an attic and have a total of three windows for No. 9 and one additional window for No. 10.
No. 9 retains its original windows, including a 12-pane sash in a moulded box and a 4:12:4-pane oriel window with a raking skirt on the first floor. This oriel is positioned above a bow window and a sash window, both of which are temporarily blocked, alongside a doorway that is also blocked with a segmental half-brick head at ground level. No. 10 features replacement 12-pane sashes and has a 20th-century glazed door set in a segmental half-brick arch to the left.
A large brick ridge stack is located at the party wall between the two houses, raised in later brick, with an additional stack at the right gable end, which is overshadowed by a taller adjoining property. Historical references mention remnants of stonework from a 16th-century adjoining property in the west gable, but these are no longer visible. The interior has not been inspected.
