Description

Clarence Buildings is a house in a row, originally one of a pair, dating from the late 18th century in Weymouth. The building is rendered with a slate mansard roof. It has two storeys and an attic, with two windows per floor, all plain sash windows. Two gabled dormers, dating from the mid-19th century, feature deep, projecting bargeboards and finials above a sash window on the left side. A two-storey bow window extends from the right side, finished with plain friezes and simple cornices. A panelled door, within a moulded architrave and cornice, is centrally positioned beneath the first-floor sash and is shared with the adjacent property at No.21. A full-width moulded cornice, with a blocking course and parapet, runs along the top, with a stack located to the right. The unusual arrangement of the doors is due to the rebuilding of the left-hand portion of the original pair in the early 19th century, although the later entrance was maintained in its original position. The interior has not been inspected.
