Clarence Buildings (Terrace)

Clarence Buildings is a pair of houses located on the west side of the Esplanade in Weymouth, dating from the early 19th century. They are constructed in Flemish bond brickwork, although No. 26 is rendered. The buildings feature a slate mansard roof and rise three storeys with an attic, each house having one window fitted with plain sash frames. No. 25 includes a flat-roofed dormer with a 20th-century casement, while No. 26 has a smaller dormer with a 20th-century light. Both houses have a three-storey flat bow and a continuous modillion cornice beneath a blocking course and parapet. The entrances are centered with six-panel doors on a nosed step, topped by very shallow transom lights, and framed by separate moulded architraves with a thin shared head mould. A small plinth is present, and each house has a stack at the outer gable. The return gable on the right is plain, and both houses have a double mansard roof. The interior has not been inspected.
