Description
Powderham House and Lombard House are a pair of houses built in the late 18th century. They are constructed of red brick with grey headers in Flemish bond, and No. 7 features painted render on its ground floor. Each house has a hipped plain tile roof, with a brick stack located to the left of No. 7 and in the center of No. 9.
The exterior consists of three storeys, each with one bay. Both houses have three stone steps with an attached guard rail leading up to the door on the right. The door of No. 7 has six moulded panels and a semicircular wreathed fanlight with radial glazing bars, along with a panelled reveal and soffit, and flanking engaged columns topped with a projecting entablature. To the left of this door are two 12-pane sash windows. The door of No. 9 also has six moulded panels set within a panelled reveal, with 20th-century pilasters and a pediment above. To the left of this door is a 16-pane sash window.
On the first floor, No. 7 features a tripartite canted oriel window with a center sash of 16 panes and flanking sashes of 8 panes, along with a moulded apron panel, moulded strips dividing the lights, and a frieze with a modillion cornice above. No. 9 has a tripartite bow oriel window, with a center sash of 12 panes and flanking sashes of 8 panes, also featuring a moulded apron, pilasters flanking the window, and a frieze and cornice above. On the second floor, No. 7 has paired 12-pane sashes, while No. 9 has a 16-pane sash. A brick dentil band runs above the second floor, and both houses have coped parapets, although No. 7 has 20th-century brickwork on its parapet. The interior has not been inspected.
