Description

Nos. 14 and 16 are two houses that are part of a terrace, built in the late 1860s or early 1870s. They feature Flemish bond brickwork, with No. 16 having light headers, set on a chamfered plinth. The dressings are made of painted stone, and there are stone-bracketed metal gutters, with the brackets on No. 14 displaying carved head features. The houses have a common Welsh slate roof and shared ridge brick chimney stacks.

Each house is two storeys high and has two bays, with a double-depth plan. Both houses have a left doorway; No. 14 features a panelled door and overlight within a colonnette porch that has leaf capitals and a dentilled cornice, accessed by steps. It also has a squared bay window with paired sashes in a pilastered surround, which includes a central colonnette and dentilled cornice. The upper floor has sash windows set in brick reveals with stone sills and lintels.

No. 16 has a panelled door and fanlight in a columned surround with leaf capitals, topped by a rounded hoodmould and accessed by steps. Its ground floor features a tripartite sash window in a stone surround, set under a relieving brick arch and segmental hood. The upper floor has sash windows in brick reveals with stone sills and segmental brick arches beneath a continuous shaped hood that extends over the windows.

The two houses are complemented by two octagonal gate piers with pyramidal caps and chamfered plinths at No. 14. The interiors have not been inspected.
