18 And 20, Chiswick Street

18 and 20 Chiswick Street are two houses that form part of a terrace, built in 1869. They feature Flemish bond brickwork with light headers on a chamfered plinth, and all dressings are made of calciferous sandstone, some of which are painted. There is a string course and a stone-bracketed metal gutter. The common roof is made of Welsh slate, with shared ridge brick chimney stacks that are banded with white brick and have dentilled detailing. Each house is two storeys tall and has two bays, following a double-depth plan. Both houses have a left panelled door with an overlight set in a Tuscan porch, accessed by steps. The squared bay windows have paired sash windows within a stone surround. Above, there are sash windows set in brick reveals with stone sills and flat brick arches. The interiors have not been inspected. Deeds for No. 20 are dated 1869, and an 1869 penny was found behind a fireplace in that house.
