Description

A pair of houses located in York, built in the mid-19th century, with No.7 retaining earlier origins. The houses are constructed of orange-brown brick in Flemish bond, with some areas of orange-cream brick in Flemish and English garden-wall bonds, and a right return of red-brown brick in stretcher bond. They feature timber doorcases and paired modillion guttering, and a pantile roof with brick stacks.

The front of the houses has a three-storey, three-window design. Both houses have doorcases with pilasters, imposts, and plain cornice hoods. No.6 has a six-panel door with a bordered overlight, and No.7 has a four-panel door with a bordered overlight. No.6 has sixteen-pane sash windows on the ground and first floors, and an unequal nine-pane sash window on the second floor, all with narrow painted sills and cambered brick arches. The ground-floor window in No.6 has flush panel shutters. No.7 has two twelve-pane sash windows on all three floors, with narrow painted sills and segmental brick arches. The interior of the houses was not inspected during the listing process.
