Description
No. 5 Precentor's Court is a house dating from the early 18th century, with later alterations and an extension. It features painted brick on a high plinth, a timber modillion eaves cornice, and boxed guttering, topped with a pantile roof and a brick stack. The building has two storeys, a semi-basement, and an attic, with a two-window front. To the left, there is a one-storey flat-roofed extension. A flight of steps leads to a three-panel door with a two-pane overlight, located left of centre and sheltered by a bracketed canopy hood. To the right, there is a two-light basement window in the plinth beneath a 16-pane ground floor sash window. A similar window is positioned to the right on the first floor, with a 12-pane staircase sash to the left. The ground floor window is fitted with two-panel shutters, while the extension features a row of small windows. The interior has not been inspected, but records indicate a staircase with close strings, heavy turned balusters, and square newels, along with two fireplaces that have late 18th-century surrounds and applied composition ornament.
